Drama is one of four Arts disciplines taught within schools. Dance, drama, music and visual arts are the complete package.
Drama is a University Entrance approved subject. It is compulsory at yr 7 and 8, then available as an option through to level 3 NCEA.
At the junior level a method known as Process Drama is primarily used to explore particular aspects of humanity.
At senior level students typically explore the techniques of an actor, devise – which means to make and create their own solo or group pieces, take on roles in our annual senior productions, view live productions, script and or direct performances and explore particular theatre forms (ie. physical theatre, verbatim, dance/drama, musical, commedia, melodrama, puppetry, clowning, Elizabethan, Greek and Epic theatre etc).
