Attendance

Regular school attendance is essential for the learning, wellbeing, and success of our tamariki. Being at kura every day helps tamariki build strong learning foundations, develop friendships, and feel connected to their school and community.

At Okaihau College, we see attendance as a shared responsibility between kura and whānau. We take a supportive, mana-enhancing approach — celebrating regular attendance, responding early to concerns, and working alongside whānau to remove barriers.

Our goal is for all tamariki to attend school regularly (80% or more by 2030) so they can fully participate in learning and kura life.
